About Us

Lower Columbia College

Mission

The mission of Lower Columbia College is to ensure each learner's personal and professional success, and influence lives in ways that are local, global, traditional, and innovative.

Vision

Our vision is to be a powerful force for improving the quality of life in our community.

Values

Our campus community expects an environment of integrity, respect, collaboration, cooperation, inclusion, and innovation that fosters personal growth, academic excellence, and accountability.

Our greatest strength is our community support. We work closely with local organizations to support our community and give back in whatever way we can. We set high academic standards and love working with students from all walks of life. Small classes, dedicated teachers, and a friendly, supportive environment set the tone of our institution. LCC welcomes curiosity, creativity, intellectual ambition, and an openness to new ideas. We see learning as a challenging, deeply rewarding, and profoundly important activity to be shared in a spirit of collaboration.

Lower Columbia College offers the promise of a better life for adults of all ages, and a more robust economy for our region. Our arts and entertainment and continuing education offerings allow individuals to pursue professional enrichment, or partcipate in cultural activities and events.

Lower Columbia College was established in 1934 as Lower Columbia Junior College. In 1961 it was elevated to a community college. In 1967 it joined the state-supported community college system. Today's campus has expanded to include 27 buildings located on 38+ acres, with state-of-the-art technology enabled classrooms and labs designed to prepare students for in-demand careers.  New buildings including a Health & Science Building, Gym & Fitness Center, Rose Center for the Arts, and an open-air outdoor Pavilion provide students with a modern environment designed to enhance learning.

Located at the intersection of 15h Avenue and Washington Way, the campus is close to local neighborhoods, downtown shops, and restaurants. Lake Sacajawea Park features walking paths, biking trails, picnic areas and special event venues.
