DESCRIPTION
Perform all duties in a manner consistent with current laboratory safety standards, and technical work in support of and under the direction the section supervisor and/or Pathologist. Under supervision, performs technical tasks and procedures to include preventative maintenance as appropriate in section assigned. Assists in preparing/maintaining compliance as established by regulating agencies such as CAP, TJC, OSHA, and other federal and state agencies. Assist in the gross room to accession specimens, processing of surgical specimens that includes cut frozen sections, slide staining, gross dictation, selection and submission of specimens for histological, microbiological, immunological, electron microscopy and other specialized testing, photographs of specimens, transporting specimen samples, assist in collecting tissues during fine needle aspirations procedures, storage and discard of specimen samples, clean-up and maintenance of the laboratory, and ordering supplies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from college with a major in an applicable natural science; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Two (2) year of related high volume lab experience, preferably in a large complex healthcare organization.
Proficient knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access).
Demonstrated high accuracy in work performance.
Excellent attention to detail.
Strong communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Pathology experience or clinical lab experience.
- Specimen handling experience.
- Reference lab specimen send out experience.
- Bio-hazardous material shipping experience/certification.
- Basic knowledge of FedEx/UPS send out/tracking and ability to multi-task with exceptional record keeping skills to track packages and pending orders.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $90,932 - $90,932 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $43.55 - $43.55
