The Associate Director Housing Operations works in Residence Life & Housing within the Student Development. The Associate Director oversees a comprehensive campus housing program for undergraduate residential students, including coordinating openings/closings, housing selection, and first-year placements.

This position serves as the primary liaison to Facilities and manages the StarRez housing software. The associate director also provides direct supervision to an assistant director and the coordinator of housing operations. The associate director is part of the leadership team with another associate director and the director. As part of the leadership team, this role serves on the on-call system. The associate director reports directly to the director of residence life & housing.

The associate director is part of a larger residence life & housing team, this position also provides the unique opportunity to develop skills in high-level crisis response, staff supervision, staff development, and student conduct. On a small collaborative campus, the associate may also be involved in campus-wide initiatives, including service as a mentor in Messina–Loyola's living-learning initiative.

Residence Life & Housing includes the director, two associate directors, three assistant directors, area coordinators for our residential area, a program assistant, 80 Resident Assistants (RAs), and a front desk staff of approximately 100 students. Loyola is a primarily residential campus, with approximately 85% of students living on campus for all four years.

Primary Job Responsibilities
Occupancy and Assignments
o Develop and manage an occupancy plan to address housing supply and demand and forecast occupancy
o Develop and manage the housing selection process for returning residential students
o Develop and oversee the housing application process for first-year students
o Complete the housing assignment process for all first-year students and transfer students

Housing Processes
o Manage all residence hall openings and closings
o Coordinate University-wide logistics to support fall semester opening
o Oversee all housing processes, including keys, contract extensions/early arrivals, room condition reports, room changes, Move Week, etc.
o Develop housing policies related to various areas, including early arrivals, contract extensions, and the housing selection process

Partner with Facilities
o Manage emergency response to facilities-related issues, which may include relocation/developing alternative housing plans for students
o Develop strong working relationships with Facilities staff and communicate with the director of facilities about issues or concerns
o Represent residence life & housing at all pertinent Facilities related meetings
o Help coordinate campus-wide programs, such as pest control, cleaning, and other projects related to University housing
o Help address concerns proactively and plan for residence hall improvements/construction. Assist in the development of renovation plans and the implementation of new residential facilities

Supervision and Team Leadership
o Support both the departmental and divisional goals focused on diversity and inclusion
o Directly supervise 2 professional staff members
o Indirectly supervise area coordinators in collaboration with the leadership team, specifically in regard to housing operations
o Serve in the senior-level on-call rotation for campus-wide emergencies, potentially responding to emergencies in all areas of residential living. During rotation, must be within 30 minutes of campus if a response is needed
o Communicate regularly with associate and director to discuss office needs, strategic planning, and office processes

Qualifications
o Master's degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education, Counseling in Student Affairs or a related field
o 3-5 years of post-Master's professional experience
o 3 years of residence life and on-call crisis response experience
o Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work successfully with campus partners
o Experience supervising professional staff and availability during night and weekend hours
o Demonstrated knowledge of housing operations and the unique aspects of a primarily residential campus
o Demonstrated ability to support and advocate for underrepresented students
o Experience utilizing housing software
o Must be able to support the University's goals for institutional diversity, as well as the goals and values of a Catholic, Jesuit education.
