Job Description:

Mount Saint Mary's University Office of Institutional Advancement is looking for a Development Associate to cultivate and solicit young alumnae donors and to provide administrative support for the Brady Leadership and Heritage Societies.

Reporting to the Director of Annual Giving, the Development Associate will play a critical role in managing daily operations for the Brady Leadership Society and increasing overall participation and financial support to the Mount Fund. S/he will also support the management and growth of the Brady Leadership Society (annual donors who give $1,200+ to the Mount Fund) and the Heritage Society (planned giving donors).

Position Monthly Rate: $5,373.34

Hiring salary can be above the posted pay range if candidate's qualifications are determined to be above the minimum requirements of the position description.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Serves as project manager for various communications efforts across all channels (including direct mail and email appeals, stewardship pieces for Heritage Society and BLS members, and social media posts) and maintain the communications calendar for the Individual Giving department
2. Develops and manages a small portfolio of 25-50 prospects, including loyal donors (future planned giving prospects) and graduates of the last decade (GOLD) who are eligible to join the Brady Leadership Society at discounted rates; engage, cultivate, solicit and steward prospects with at least 24 visits/year
3. Works closely with the Director of Annual Giving and the Assistant Director of Alumnae and Volunteer Engagement to strategize and implement an effective student philanthropy program
4. Participates in and staff donor cultivation and stewardship events (Brady Leadership Society stewardship event, Heritage Society luncheon, Scholarship luncheon, etc.)
5. Serves as the lead contact in the execution of Assist the Director of Annual Giving with online fundraising campaigns, particularly Giving Tuesday and Mount Day of Giving
6. Manages student workers and approve timesheets
7. Liaise with Annual Giving and Planned Giving vendors (FreeWill, GiveCampus, LEAD, etc.) on a regular basis
8. Provides administrative support (e.g. processing invoices, credit card reconciliation, maintaining the team calendar, supply management, proofread gift agreements, etc.)
9. Performs other duties as assigned

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Some travel required within state and region.
2. Evening and weekend work, as necessary.

Requirements:

Knowledge:

• Understanding of sophisticated fundraising techniques, donor relations and trends.
• Strong working knowledge of Raiser's Edge database system preferred, computers in general and Microsoft Word and Excel software applications.

Abilities and Skills:

• Able to articulate the mission and value of a Mount Saint Mary's University education and forge strong working relationships with others. Strong capacity for engaging confidence and trust among prospects and donors.
• Able to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
• Must be proactive, articulate, personable, well-organized, service-oriented, and able to handle multiple projects concurrently
• Able to effectively set priorities and analyze and creatively solve problems
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Able to exercise sound judgment and decision making. Detail-oriented, flexible and proactive
• Must demonstrate follow-through with multiple, simultaneous projects and tasks
• Able to keep abreast of updates and changes within the field. Must be comfortable working with high level volunteers. Ability to organize, prioritize and handle multiple tasks to meet established deadlines.
• Computer proficiency (strong experience with Raiser's Edge preferred) and general office skills.
• Ability to drive and provide transportation to off-campus locations.
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software applications, including Word and Excel

Education:

• Bachelor's degree required.

Experience:

• One to two years of fundraising experience with a focus on individual donor development preferred.

Licenses and Certifications:

• Valid California driver's license.

Work Location: Doheny Campus (Downtown Los Angeles). Remote work is available.
