Student Events & Special Projects Coordinator/ Educational Talent Search California State University, San Bernardino
Overview Employment Status: Temporary, non-exempt, benefited position through August 31, 2021 (position renewable based upon available funding, availability of work, and satisfactory job performance).
Salary: $3,500-4,100 per month.
Work Schedule: 40 hour per week, typically Monday - Friday 8:00 am-5:00 pm, some evenings and weekends required. Incumbent must be able to participate in remote or on-campus work depending on the directives from the CSUSB campus.

Overview: The Events & Special Projects Coordinator reports to the Educational Talent Search Executive Leadership Team and under minimal supervision has overall responsibility for planning and managing events, and special projects.
Typical Activities Specific Responsibilities:
Manage the events calendar in coordination with the Assistant Director, making sure all events are appropriately scheduled and executed.
Coordinate all events and special projects with appropriate team members to develop common goals, communication plans, and staffing plans, including working in coordination with the Assistant Director to ensure events are appropriately tracked on the overall campaign's marketing/promotions calendar.
Plan, coordinate and execute all ETS events (including parent orientations, college visits, cultural events, Senior Boot Camps, Freshman Focus, etc.)
Plan and manage ETS special projects as assigned so that they accomplish desired outcomes.
Create, maintain, and execute project plans for events and special projects to be sure that specific tasks are accomplished according to the plan; making adjustments to plans as needed to make sure deadlines are met.
Utilize and oversee volunteers as appropriate.
Provide opportunities for students to assess their interests and academic abilities based on field trips and student/parent surveys
Recommend enrichment activities, such as Senior Boot Camp, award banquets, and luncheon functions that will foster and encourage social/personal development and parent engagement.
Provide timely information and photos for use in program communications, social media, and marketing.
Develop and conduct assessments and analyze results for utilization with future event planning.
Foster, encourage and engage parents in all events as well as parent-only events
Encourage, develop, and maintain the school, district, university, and community partnerships.
Secure support of our program and objectives from local businesses and national corporations
Oversee the administrative and logistical aspects of event planning and follow-through.
Work with the Assistant Director to develop evaluation matrixes such as pre and post-assessments for all activities and events. Use the collected data to develop and provide activity reports.
Work with the Program Administrative Coordinator to develop a system that provides student access to technology, as needed;
Develop, plan and provide workshops at each school site with program participants and parents to review admissions, deposits requirements, status, summer orientation, other mandatory programs, or steps needed to enroll in college at the earliest available term.
Attend events related to Educational Talent Search (ETS) objectives, as assigned, both on-campus and off-campus.
Work with the part-time advisor to develop social media campaigns
Assist with collecting data for the Annual Performance Reports (including collection, accuracy, and verification of data).
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree with a minimum of two (2) years related experience
Experience planning, managing, and seeing to complete multiple projects and activities at the same time.
Strong project management expertise and experience
Strong event planning expertise and experience.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and organizational and project management software.
Applicants must possess the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information, along with the ability to work cooperatively with a diverse group of people, exercise sound judgment, determine priorities, complete assigned projects in a timely manner, and work well under tight deadlines.
Applicants must possess the following critical strengths including, but not limited to reliability, attention to detail, and strong self-initiative.
Must possess the ability to work with middle and high school students and set a positive example.
Extra consideration will be given to candidates that have received training in delivering college readiness activities, such as through the TRIO Training (UNLV) sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education.
Bilingual/Spanish is preferred.
