The Department of Medicine (http://med.ucsd.edu) and the Section of Molecular Biology of the Division of Biological Sciences (https://biology.ucsd.edu/research/academic-sections/mb/) at the University of California San Diego are committed to academic, scientific, and clinical excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body are currently seeking an accomplished and innovative investigator, who is for highly collaborative, and who utilize a systems-based approach to genomic and epigenomic studies to elucidate how complex regulatory networks interact in health and disease.
Candidates will be expected to contribute to the teaching missions of both the Department of Medicine and the Section of Molecular Biology in the Division of Biological Sciences including covering the topics of Bioinformatics and Biostatistics. The successful candidate will be appointed at the rank of Assistant Professor.
We seek candidates who demonstrate the highest standards of professional research, teaching, and service. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate scholarly activity, maintain professional competence by attending in weekly outpatient adult clinics and participating in the inpatient/outpatient consult services (MD only). The successful candidate will also maintain external funding and high productivity of publication in the peer-reviewed literature, demonstrate excellence in the teaching of undergraduate, graduate and medical students and provide service to the University and academic community at a level commensurate with their career stage.
The selected candidate will also contribute to the maintenance of a collegial and collaborative academic environment, and demonstrate ongoing commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion at the University. The departments are especially interested in candidates who have demonstrated commitment to excellence by providing leadership in teaching, research, and service towards building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment.
Candidates must have an MD, DO and/or PhD in any of the fields within Biology and Immunology or related field. Candidates must also have an active and innovative research program. Candidates with an MD or DO or practicing physicians must be board eligible or certified. Candidates with an MD or DO must have certification and be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.
The Joint 50/50 Appointment will be in the Department of Medicine and Section of Molecular Biology in the Division of Biological Sciences at the Assistant Professor rank. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales.
