The Department of Surgery at the University of California, Irvine, School of Medicine anticipates openings for Clinical Professors of Surgery (Clinical X Series) in its divisions. These openings will be at the level of Assistant, Associate and Full Professor, depending upon the candidate's qualifications and experience.
Surgical Divisions include the following: Cardiothoracic Surgery, Colorectal Surgery, Gastrointestinal Surgery, Hepatobiliary & Pancreas Surgery, General Surgery, Surgical Oncology, Kidney & Pancreas Transplantation, Trauma/Critical Care/Burn Surgery, Surgery Research, and Vascular Surgery.
The Clinical X series is designed for clinical scholars with major clinical responsibilities who are outstanding teachers and whose research/creative activities are often more broadly aimed at the improvement of clinical practice, health delivery, and/or medical education. Individuals in the Clinical X series should publish the results of their scholarly activities and present them at meetings.
Requirements: An M.D. or M.D./Ph.D., board certification or board eligibility in specialty, California DEA license and a California Medical License. Strong interest and demonstrated capabilities in delivering patient care in an academic clinical setting, teaching residents and medical students, and performing University and public service.
Positions are dependent upon funding. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with training, qualifications, and experience.
