Position Description and Essential Functions
The Lindner College of Business is seeking a talented Business Data Reporting Analyst to turn data into information, information into insight, and insight into strategic business decisions. This position will report directly to the Business Officer with a dotted line reporting relationship to the Dean. This role is responsible for data mining and collection, interpreting data results using a variety of techniques ranging from simple analysis to developing complex, high level reports for use in operational and strategic decision-making. The Business Data Reporting Analyst will gather data from a variety of internal systems, including Catalyst (the student information system), UC-Flex (the accounting, financial and human resources systems), etc. and will interface with a broad range of constituents including the Dean, Associate Deans, Department Heads, Professional Staff and Central Business Partners in order to identify solutions that meet the college’s diverse operational, managerial, and executive reporting needs.
Leverage data modeling and report building skills to support organizational decision-making processes, and provide statistical analysis as needed;
Design, implement and analyze Student Information Analytics (i.e., statistical model building, trending and tracking) as related to student recruitment, applications, enrollment, retention and course data;
Benchmark data with other university units, including but not limited to The Office of Institutional Research, and external resources such as AACSB to assist in assessing opportunities and challenges;
Interpret data and analyze trends to make recommendations to the LCB Executive team for short-term and long-term operational planning;
Gather and analyze college level strategic data as requested by the Dean, Associate Deans and Business Officer;
Utilize data analysis and reporting tools such as MS-Excel, SPSS, SAS and Tableau to build reports and dashboards; and develop reports in CaRT, Catalyst, Slate, SAP, etc.
Evaluate diverse data sets, identify new data types and synthesize data into meaningful metrics;
Monitor data quality, identify inconsistencies, and make recommendations to optimize business data processes;
Work closely with college management to prioritize data and information needs;
Perform business and financial duties as assigned;
Perform other duties as assigned.
Prior experience with UC systems (including UC-Flex, Catalyst, etc.), policies and procedures
Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
Attention to detail and accuracy
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics or other related field with 1 year of business and/or ERP related experience – OR – Associate’s degree in a related field with 3 years of business and/or ERP related experience –OR – 5 years of business and/or ERP related experience
Basic knowledge of systems and database administration and must work well within a team environment
