Assistant Teaching Professor - Ag Learning and Leadership
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Department of Agricultural Education and Studies (AgEdS) and Agronomy (Agron) at Iowa State University seeks to fill an Assistant Teaching Professor position in Learning and Leadership. We seek an individual with expertise in agricultural education, education studies and experience in agricutural leadership. This is a 9-month appointment with responsibilities for teaching/advising (75%), research (20%), and service (5%). The successful applicant will provide leadership and instruction for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciencesâ (CALS) Learning and Leadership Sciences (LLS) Minor in collaboration with other faculty members in AgEdS and Agron and other departments CALS, as well as personnel in the Center of Excellence in Learning and Teaching. In addition to building the LLS Minor, the candidate will contribute to development of leadership curricula in Agricultural Education and Studies and support development of curricula related to learning and leadership in entrepreneurship within CALS. The candidate will also recruit and advise students in programs in these areas. In addition, he or she will lead faculty development efforts associated with Project LEA/RN focused on improving instructional practice among faculty members and learning outcomes for students across ISU. He/she will develop an applied research program to complement these areas and address application of learning theory in college classrooms. The candidate will provide service to the department and the college. Required Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must have an earned Ph.D. by start date in agricultural leadership, agricultural education, leadership education, or closely related field Demonstrated knowledge of learning and leadership sciences Demonstrated experience leading education and faculty development Excellent communication skills appropriate for both student and faculty audiences using a variety of media
Teaching experience at the graduate level at either resident or distance education

Areas of focus include teacher preparation, agricultural communication and leadership, and agricultural studies.
