The University of Southern California Thornton School of Music invites applications for a Operations Manager.Â The position is full-time and reports to the Director of Operations and Production. Â The position oversees the operational day-to-day functions of the USC Thornton School of Music and works directly with staff and faculty. Typical schedule for this position is Monday â Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm.

Duties and Responsibilities
Provides and manages the customer service experience for faculty, staff and students visiting Operations
Ensures operational efficiency and enforces policies and practices
Supervises scheduling manager, operations services coordinator and operations office coordinator
Manages all fiscal related duties for the department including, but not limited to fiscal year planning, financial administration, budget management, reconciliations, processing expenses, reporting and tracking of expenses
Hires, trains and evaluates direct report employees
Develops and maintains strong working relationships with USC FMS, Aramark, and other auxiliary services as well as critical contractors and specialized services.
Coordinates logistics for annual operational events such as locker check-out, audition weekends and student hiring
Acts in an official leadership role for emergency response scenarios
Implements Thornton policies and procedures
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
Exemplary customer service skills and professional demeanor
Adept verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated administrative or operational experience within a higher education music environment
Relevant production, project or construction logistics experience
Ability to read music and familiarity with music/performing arts curriculum objectives in higher education
Successful experience in a supervisory role
Ability to manage confidential situations effectively and professionally
Ability to thrive under pressure and be accepting of directions and requests from many stakeholders simultaneously
Ability to multi-task and prioritize as needed
Ability to be equally effective working alone or within a team
Effective time management, administrative, technical and organizational skills as well as strong analytical and problem-solving ability is required
Experience working within Kuali and/or Concur is highly desired
Ability to work nights and weekends as needed
