The Office of Accreditation and Credentialing is responsible for the collection and analysis of accountability data to ensure that the Rossier School of Education has practices and outcomes consistent with our mission. This office ensures that all candidates meet Federal, State and Program requirements before being recommended for an education credential. The Office of Accreditation and Credentialing is seeking a Credential Analyst who will join the team to primarily perform the specialized duties associated with k-12 public school credential recommendations as well as varied administrative duties .Â The position will report Dr. Cathy R. Creasia director of the Office of Accreditation and Credentialing.Â
Under the direction of the Director of Accreditation and Credentialing, the Credential Analyst performs the technical and specialized functions as defined by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) and USC to support and audit the qualifications for admission, preparation and completion of fieldwork, credential recommendations and employment authorizations for teacher and service credential candidates.Â
This position requires attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication, and superior customer service skills. This requires the ability to provide prompt and professional responses and follow up, to engage with a variety of constituents with a focus on responsiveness and superior customer service, and to execute multiple objectives concurrently. POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Â Â
Essential functions:Â 100% of time
Review credential recommendation applications for appropriate licensure documents before forwarding on to Director for approval
Evaluate, process and update student credential candidate files
Link licensure documents to student files
Maintain paper file system of candidate data
Maintain data base of program and candidate information for Accreditation reporting and program improvement efforts
Serve as the primary point of contact for USC staff in determining the appropriate credential and/or degree programs for current students
Collaborate and communicate regularly with campus staff and faculty regarding student progress in meeting program and credential requirements
Respond to student questions regarding licensure requirementsÂ
Process, review, and recommend students to the Commission on Teaching Credentialing (CTC) for all student teaching, licensure, credential, authorizations and state certificates.Â Including, but not limited to, out-of-state verifications and student qualifications for supplementary authorizations.Â
Serve as the liaison to County Offices, School Districts, and other entities in the school system in regards to licensure requirements
Assist the Director of Accreditation and Credentialing with gathering data for state and federal reports
Attend CTC workshops for credential analysts and conferences as directed by the Director of Accreditation and Credentialing
Provides administrative support to the office of Accreditation and Credentialing.
Screens and prioritizes incoming calls and e-mail requests.Â Responds to inquiries or refers to appropriate staff person.Â Composes correspondence, mostly via e-mail.
Organizes electronic and hard copy files to facilitate confidentiality and ease of document retrieval in preparation for credential recommendation.Â
Process credential recommendations as needed.
Assists with the preparation and management of center funds, including travel reimbursements. Tracks and monitors expenditures.Â
Assists in organizing and maintaining accreditation staff calendar including meeting schedules.
Researches and gathers data and information, as requested.
Maintains office equipment and supplies.
Other duties as assigned.
Candidate Credential Advising
Serve as the primary point of contact for USC staff in determining the appropriate credential and/or degree programs for prospective students
Collaborate with the Enrollment Coaching Center to address questions regarding appropriate programs for prospective candidates
Create and maintain an accurate database of credential candidates via USC Shared Drive (One Note)
Track candidates through Credential Recommendation and enter graduate data into data base
Monitor student completion of non-coursework requirements
Process out-of-state verifications
Prepare credential recommendations for CTC
Serve as a liaison to CTC regarding credential recommendations
Special Conditions of Employment:Â
Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.Â Need to be able to work flexible hours particularly given campusesâ extended hours of operation.Â Applicants for this position are subject to a criminal history review.
Previous Experience Required:
2+ yearsâ experience in k-12, and/or working in a credential services, accreditation or related department
Knowledge of CTC and/or k-12 educator policies in regards to licensure.
High level of team experience and customer service.Â
Knowledge of credentials and accreditation policies.Â
Able to work in a complex process system of auditing, evaluating and analyzing information environment.
Ability to use technology for better efficiency and processing overall flow.
Experience working within a department within higher education reviewing student files, analyzing student information in Higher Education or experience with district/school level HR related to credentialing
Trained as a recommending agent by the CTC.
Knowledge of Accreditation as related to teacher preparation program requirements
Experience with student teaching placement, accreditation and credential processes preferred.
Bachelor degree or relevant combination of education and work experience
