Assistant or Associate Professor of Clinical Radiation Oncology (Medical Physicist)

The Department of Radiation Oncology at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California is recruiting a full-time Medical Physicist for a clinical faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The rank of the selected candidate will depend upon the candidateâs qualifications.
While competency and service in all areas of radiation oncology physics are expected. We are seeking an individual who has the expertise in the areas of machine calibration and equipment quality assurance (accelerators, CT simulators, and HDR unit and special procedures (such as stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), total body irradiation (TBI), total skin electron treatment (TSET), and eye plaque treatment. Other ongoing areas of clinical service could include IGRT, SBRT, HDR brachytherapy and treatment planning. In addition to participating in a general clinical physics practice, the selected applicant will provide didactic and practical teaching and training for medical residents and other departmental staff. A successful candidate should also engage in clinical research and development initiatives.
The applicantâs doctoral degree should be in medical physics or a related field with completion of a CAMPEP approved residency-training program in Radiation Oncology physics and ABR Radiotherapy Certification. Significant aptitudes for the use of treatment delivery; calibration and quality assurance equipment; computerized treatment planning; patient management and safety; excellent communication are considered necessary. Competence in practical and didactic teaching is expected as is experienced in clinical research as evidenced by a previous record of publication in the scientific journal.
The Division of Medical Physics in the Department of Radiation Oncology consists of 8 Medical Physicists who provide services in various hospitals and USC satellite locations to include: Kenneth Norris Jr. Cancer Hospital (an NCI designated Comprehensive Cancer Center), LAC+USC Medical Center, USC University Hospital, Children Hospital Los Angeles, and community-based clinics.

Minimum Education:Â Â Â Â Ph.D. graduates either from a CAMAPEP accredited graduate program or from a CAMAPEP accredited residency program
Preferred Experience:Â Â Â Â ABR certification with 3 to 7 yearsâ experience, depending on professorial rank.
