Description: The Director of the CHLA Pediatric Hospital Medicine Fellowship oversees all aspects of the fellowship program, including fellow recruitment, instruction and clinical supervision, curriculum development, and program evaluation. The Director will collaborate with educational leaders from the division, institution, and university to prepare for accreditation by the ACGME. The Director will serve as a member of the Division of Hospital Medicine leadership team and report to the Division Chief.
Participate in and/or lead fellowship activities locally, regionally, or nationally
HLA GME Office and Program Directors- meetings, committee work
PHM Fellowship Directors Council- annual meeting, subcommittee work
Ensure program compliance with accreditation organizations (ACGME, CHLA Designated Institutional Official, GME Office, Medical Staff Office)
Oversee fellowship recruitment efforts and conduct all NRMP activities
Program Development, Implementation, and Evaluation
Organize and supervise fellow clinical rotation schedules
Organize and supervise fellow academic requirements, including completion of scholarly project with oversight from a Scholarship Oversight Committee
Oversee the fellowship core curriculum, including didactics, journal club, and case conferences
Development and implement tools for use in the curriculum
Direct rotation, curriculum, and annual program evaluations
Mentorship, Instruction, Feedback, and Evaluation
Review and edit fellow work products
Advise and mentor fellows with regard to career development
Conduct clinical and classroom teaching (teaching during FCR, fellows core curriculum, individualized instruction for learners in difficulty)
Provide feedback and evaluation
Implement 360" evaluation system for fellows
Conduct semi-annual written evaluations for each fellows, to include feedback from faculty and objective performance data when appropriate
MD or DO degree, with clinical practice as a pediatric hospitalist
Pediatric hospital medicine fellowship training preferred
Successful track record in mentoring trainees and junior faculty
Training or degree in medical education, educational scholarship and/or educational leadership preferred
