Information Sciences Institute (ISI), a unit of USCâs Viterbi School of Engineering, is a world leader in the research and development of advanced information processing, computing, and communications technologies. ISI operates one of the worldâs largest academic high-performance computing clusters. ISI has three research campuses:Â one in Marina Del Rey, CA; one in Arlington, VA; and one in Waltham, MA.

ISI is home to nearly 250 researchers in a variety of fields, including intelligent systems and artificial intelligence, who carry out world-class research in a collaborative, academic environment. ISI scientists have the opportunity to spend the majority of their time doing the research they love. Projects are critically accelerated by research programmers and Ph.D. and M.S. students.
ISI is looking for highly talented, motivated researchers to lead and impact state-of-the-art research and development in the areas of machine learning and computer vision and to be part of the multimedia research group.
Research and development of computer vision and machine learning algorithms for object detection and recognition, large-scale indexing and retrieval and multimedia understanding
Actively publish research outcomes in premier conferences and journals
Evolve own research programs and develop and participate in developing research proposals to major funding agencies such as DARPA, IARPA, NIH and NSF
Design, implement and deliver software systems to funding agencies and participate in large-scale research evaluations
Ph.D. in Computer Science or Electrical/Computer Engineering with emphasis on computer vision and/or machine learning
Record of publishing in premier conferences such as CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, ACM MM, NIPS, and ICML
Solid Python and C++ programming background
Solid background on software development on Linux operating system and related tools, such as Emacs, GCC, etc
Familiarity with vision and learning libraries, such as scikit-learn, OpenCV, Caffe and Keras
Outstanding oral and written communication skills
Prior work on multimedia indexing using locality-preserving methods
Prior work using deep learning, especially convolutional neural networks, long short term memory,Â and deep autoencoders
Experience with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, Theano andÂ Torch
Familiarity with modern virtualization technologies
Experience with Amazon AWS
