Overview The Department of English at California State University, San Bernardino invites applications from a diverse group of qualified applicants for an open rank tenure track position (at the level of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor) to begin August 2020. We seek a specialist in Linguistics preferably with expertise in Communication Sciences and Disorders. The successful candidate will teach in a newly revised undergraduate and graduate curriculum in a large, diverse, and dynamic English department that includes Linguistics, Literature, Rhetoric and Composition, and Creative Writing. We are also seeking to develop degree programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders, with an emphasis in bilingualism. The English Department offers a B.A. in English with multiple tracks and undergraduate courses in writing studies; a minor in English; an M.A. in English Composition with three concentrations (composition, literature, and applied linguistics & TESL); and certificates in professional writing, teaching writing, creative writing, and TESL.
California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) is located in San Bernardino in the Inland Empire, 60 miles east of Los Angeles and operates a satellite campus in Palm Desert located in Coachella Valley. Typical Activities The successful candidate will help develop new programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders and will teach a range of undergraduate and graduate courses in linguistics, as well as in other areas, based on sub-specialization and departmental programmatic needs.

Minimum Qualifications A Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics, Linguistics, Language Science, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Psycholinguistics, Speech-Language Pathology, or closely-related field is required by time of appointment. Requirements include evidence of promise in professional activities, evidence of a commitment to excellence in teaching, and evidence of a commitment to service to the University and larger community.
