Reporting directly to the Director of New Ventures, the SBIR/STTR Coordinator is tasked with significantly increasing the amount of funding sourced from federal agencies to support the commercialization of innovation across the entire UCI campus, , including researchers, alumni, doctoral and post-doctoral, students and external companies who are licensing UCI IP or engaging UCI researchers for technology or product development under the SBIR/STTR program. Specific roles and responsibilities include the identification of grant opportunities, planning and attending local, regional and national events, interfacing with key program stakeholders, improving faculty and staff awareness, assisting staff with datamining and opportunity identification and assessment, facilitating grant-writing training and review, providing grant submission support, tracking and reporting program metrics. The incumbent collaborates with UCI Beall Applied Innovation (BAI) leadership team, and other BAI principals, University schools and departments. The SBIR/STTR Coordinator represents the university and serves as a liaison to regionally-available federal providers of technology commercialization services, and with interested industry stakeholders in relevant technology sectors.
