Reporting to the Vice Provost of Enrollment Management, this position oversees the administration of financial aid from all sources to all LMU populations, including undergraduate, graduate, and law students.
Typically a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Master’s degree preferred. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of regulation/policy changes.
Minimum of eight years of relevant experience with progressive responsibility in an academic community. Focused experience with and understanding of the use of systems employed to manage and report on financial aid operations (e.g. Banner, Slate, SoftDocs (Etrieve), and similar) and a demonstrated understanding of regulatory compliance matters concerning all financial aid functions including institutional, federal, state, NCAA, and other outside agency requirements will be expected. Experience with counseling students and families on financial aid resources, and providing expert guidance to university colleagues and outside organizations on financial aid policies and procedures.
Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of trends in higher education and student financial aid; detailed understanding of the functions of a successful financial aid office including counseling, compliance, systems & reporting, and financial management; as well as evidence of leadership in the development and execution of innovative student financial aid strategies utilizing institutional resources as well as federal, state, and private funds will be expected of the Assistant Vice Provost.
Skill in developing and implementing automated procedures, regulations, legislation, and practices. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
Exemplary communication skills (both written and oral) evidenced by background in preparing reports and executive summaries incorporating complex information.
Highly developed organizational and customer service skills.
Demonstrated computer competency and preferably knowledgeable of Microsoft Office Suite, assessment software and student information systems.
