Under the clinical supervision of an Anesthesiologist, the Acute Pain Nurse Practitioner will act as a consultant to manage acute and chronic pain patients. The incumbent is responsible for performing inpatient consultations, evaluation of neuraxial and peripheral nerve catheters, and participate in daily rounds on established patients. The incumbent will assist on regional service as well as acute pain service. As needed, the Pain NP will obtain a health history and physical assessment, round daily with the Acute pain team, write progress notes, identify problems, formulate plans, review lab results, and provide patient education. The Pain NP will provide education to other care providers regarding pain protocols and act as a pain liaison for the institution. The Pain NP will assist in navigating pain issues for patients while in-house, ensuring care of the patient to an optimal transition back to their home environment.The University of California, Irvine is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer advancing inclusive excellence.
