The Director is responsible for the shared development, program assessment, implementation, and supervision of a comprehensive student leadership and engagement program which meets the needs of a diverse university community; Leadership initiative programs are designed to encourage student development and engagement. Each will have a specified area of focus and learning outcomes. Other program areas include iLead, Thurgood Marshall College Fund Leadership Institute, National Society of Leadership and Success, University Yearbook, Live, Learn, Lead Workshop Series, voter education and engagement and collaborating with academic and student affairs departments. Director supervises the Coordinator for Civic and Service Learning.

Masters Degree in student development, higher education administration, or other related discipline from an accredited college or university required. A minimum of five years work experience in student affairs required (two years of graduate school assistantship experience in student affairs equal one year of full-time experience). Demonstrated knowledge and experience in a theoretical foundation in the principles and practices of leadership development and student development theory is required. Must be highly energetic, able to work flexible days, evening and weekend hours, enjoy working with students, and have excellent verbal/written communication and computer skills. Experience in website development, social media, marketing, and/or assessment preferred. Must possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities and the ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse populations.
Demonstrated supervisory experience, leadership development, program planning and assessment, event coordination, student organizations and contract negotiation. Ability to build relationships with a wide range of audiences including nonprofit partners, foundations, students, staff and faculty. Affiliation/membership within national organizations associated with student affairs, diversity, and leadership.
