As a member of the Provost-Executive Vice Chancellor- and Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs leadership teams, the Vice Chancellor for Information Technology participates in strategic and business planning, policy formulation, and program development and oversees IT operations management for the UCI Enterprise (research, education, patient care and administration across the Campus, College of Health Sciences, and Health Systems organizations). This is a highly interactive and inclusive position that requires direct and continuous collaboration with campus leadership, University of California colleagues, and the Office of the President. The Vice Chancellor is responsible for the overall management and oversight of Information Technology across the UCI Enterprise including Campus academic and administrative information systems, UCI Health and Health System technical application services. This includes all aspects of UCI including but not limited to IT Infrastructure Engineering, Operations, information security, Data Warehouse and Analytical Support, IT Quality, IT Finance services and the coordination of technology architecture and strategy. A fundamental role of the Vice Chancellor is to establish and maintain a secure, reliable and high performing IT environment required to meet the needs of the UCI Enterprise. This includes the establishment of operational processes, tools, controls and skill sets required to deliver stable and predictable IT environments as well as high quality and timely delivery of IT services to the University. Additionally, the Vice Chancellor plans, directs and evaluates the administrative and operational functions of the Office of Information Technology and Health Affairs Information Systems, and IT teams supporting the Susan and Henry Samueli College of Health Sciences (comprising over 500 employees) and the Health System IT teams. The Vice Chancellor plans, articulates, develops, implements, monitors and maintains transactional and analytic networks and information systems with emphasis on interoperability across the core missions of the UCI Enterprise. The Vice Chancellor promotes an organizational culture committed to quality and customer service as well as an increasing sharing of information technology resources, best practices and data across the UCI Enterprise to achieve economies of scale while meeting escalating UCI IT demands.The Vice Chancellor will lead the UCI enterprise in planning and implementing information systems to support both distributed and centralized research, education, clinical and business operations and establish cost effective, enterprise-wide IT operations via a multi-faceted program of IT projects prioritized in collaboration with the UCI Chief Financial Officer, the Vice Chancellor of Health Affairs, the Health System Chief Executive Officer and other UCI leadership.
