Departmental Overview ERSO functions as a central hub, providing administrative support to the College of Environmental Design; and administrative and research support to the School of Information and the College of Engineering and its affiliated research centers.
This position involves activities associated with departmental payroll administration and processing related to research administration for research centers, departments and affiliated ORUs supported by ERSO.
Assist with performing all department payroll and timekeeping activities and transactions covering staff, students, academic non-senate appointments, and faculty employees.
Assist with administration of the Caltime system for exempt, non-exempt, and Postdoc employees. Monitors system to ensure entries are correct and approvals are current, following up as needed. Onboards, trains, and advises employees and supervisors using the system. Maintains and update additional field requests. Participates in monthly and biweekly reconciliation to ensure that pay data passes from Caltime to OPTRS accurately.
Participate in team effort of reconciliation of payroll transactions.
Assist with entry of Reader/Tutor time into UCPath System.
Process Payroll Expense Transfers and Direct Retros in OPTRS and UCPath.
Assist with general customer service requests from emails, phone calls, and walk-in clients.
Coordinate check reissuance requests of lost/staledated checks.
General assistance where needed within office.
Assist with review of data converted from old payroll system into new payroll system. *Reconciliation of employee leave balances and accrual rates from old payroll system to ensure correct conversion into new payroll system. *Review converted pay frequency and cycles to ensure correct conversion into UCPath System.
Assist with writing and sending UCPath related email communications, updates and announcements to Region 1 employees and supervisors.
Assist with updating forms and documentations.
Assist with file retention/archival project to pull files for storage at Richmond Field Station.

Working knowledge of many payroll processes, policies and procedures, knowledge of campus-specific computer application programs.
Understanding of campus rules and regulations.
Payroll experience in an academic or research setting. Knowledge of and experience with the following UCB systems: PPS/OPTRS, HRMS, CalTime, UCPath, BFS and CalAnswers as well as a detailed knowledge of University of California policies and procedures relevant to payroll and personnel.
Bachelors degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
