Position: Postdoctoral Scholar The California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology (Calit2) at The University of California at Irvine (UCI), and the Balsells Fellowship Program invite applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar. A Ph.D. degree in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science from a major research university is required. Applicants should also have knowledge in one or both of the following areas: Embedded Systems/Hardware design Designing, analyzing and integrating multi modal sensor systems into functional mobile systems. Sensors types will include acoustic, chemical, image (visible and infrared), motion (e.g. accelerometers) and geo-location. The candidate with functional experience in semiconductor fabrication electronics packaging as well as other fabrication technologies such as 3D printing and/or CNC machining is a plus. Applicants with knowledge of machine learning applications would be fantastic. Software Programming and Engineering Developing and deploying distributed computing applications for data processing. The candidate will have demonstrated experience in various programming languages (e.g. Python, Java, etc.) for deployment into environments ranging from HPC clusters to mobile edge devices.
