The Director of Athletics is the leader and chief administrative officer for the planning, coordination, and implementation of a broad-based program of Intercollegiate Athletics. This includes responsibility for external relations and advancement, program quality and integrity, resource acquisition and allocation, facility development and management, publicity, marketing, athletic eligibility, and liaison with campus and external organizations. A major responsibility of the Director is to provide leadership for the further development of the programs consistent with the objectives and resources of the campus and the campus philosophy of athletics. The department includes a staff of more than 125 coaches and administrative staff. Oversees all department activities, including short- and long-range planning, budgetary planning, facility evaluation, student-athlete recruitment, competition scheduling, equipment purchasing, game management, compliance with NCAA and conference rules, publicity, special events, promotions, strength and conditioning, and athletic training. Weighs the recommendations from Athletics senior staff for new policies and programs, makes final decisions and relays any pertinent information to the Chancellor; serves as principal program liaison with the campus community, conference and national affiliations.The University of California, Irvine is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer advancing inclusive excellence.
