Research - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
This position will serve as the departmental Research Specialist in support of research and laboratory instruction & training. This position will be responsible for managing lab equipment, handling their proper maintenance including preventive and scheduled maintenance, training and proper scheduling of instrumental users, supplies procurement, planning chemical and biotechnology experiments, assisting students and other researchers in carrying out laboratory procedures and making minor changes/adjustments in experiments as needed/required.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit:
The primary purpose of the Department of Chemistry is to provide educational experiences and course work that lead to Bachelor, Master and Doctoral degrees in Chemistry, Chemistry Education, and Applied Science and Technology. Additionally, the Department offers the bulk of the physical science electives for all students enrolled at the University. To fulfill its purposes, the Department offers a variety of courses, laboratory classes and research experiences at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Although the primary purpose is to produce B.S. , M.S., and PhD graduates, the Department's efforts to provide much-needed service courses for the University's non-Chemistry majors are also significant in scope.

Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Optional Guidelines: Contributing: 4 year degree; or an equivalent combination of training and/or related experience. Journey: 4 year degree + 1 year of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and/or related experience. Advanced: 4 year degree + 3 years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and/or related experience.
Master’s degree with at least 3-7 years of laboratory chemistry and/or biotechnology experiences.
Ability to effectively work with a diverse public; work independently; adapt quickly to meet work assignments/deadlines; experience/ability to utilize common chemistry laboratory instrumentation/software; and ability to effectively assist in the management of research-specific projects within the Department.
