This position is full-time and works approximately 40 hours per week. The position is M-F typically between the hours of 8am-5pm. The time can go later depending on clinic needs.

This position is in the Department of Otolaryngology. This position floats between St Louis Children’s Hospital and the Children’s Specialty Care Center This position is for the Medical School Campus.
Position functions as a LPN in the Pediatric Division of the Department of Otolaryngology. Helping to ensure the orderly and timely provision of excellent outpatient medical care. Position functions within a team environment in the Gastroenterology Division. Fast-paced medical office work environment with work deadlines. The LPN will perform both clinical and administrative duties that may include phone triage, scheduling, referrals, refill and other patient care, under supervision according to established standards and practices.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Interacts directly with patients in clinic setting and completes tasks which may include obtaining vital signs, phlebotomy, and verification of medications
Acts as a liaison between physicians and patients, fielding phone calls, follow-up with patients, referring physicians and their support staff, clinical justification for insurance reimbursement of patient medication, answering questions, scheduling outpatient office visit appointments and communicating lab results
Assists with care coordination by doing tasks outlined under the department guidelines such as calling patients with test results, scheduling appointments, assisting physician with return calls; scheduling surgeries, diagnostic procedures, and admissions; and monitoring new and return patient contacts, including scheduling of appointments and follow-up appointments
Completes necessary paperwork and documentation in a timely manner
Answers basic questions from patient/family regarding treatments, diagnosis, and procedures
If order entry in the electronic medical record is part of the job function, completes requisitions/orders per Washington University guidelines
Administers medications as prescribed within state and facility guidelines and performs CPR when required
Graduate of LPN program
Current LPN licensure in the state of Missouri or received within 3 months from date of hire
Basic Life Support certification
2 years of experience in a hospital or clinic setting is highly preferred
Electronic Medical Record experience is highly preferred and Epic knowledge is a big plus
Working knowledge of general nursing theory and practice with ability to recognize and interpret symptoms/conditions and assist in emergency or adverse situations
The hiring range for this position is $17.23 - $21.55 per hour.
