The Neuroscience Imaging Analyst will contribute to imaging genetic analyses within the Vanderbilt Memory & Alzheimerâs Center using publicly available data focused on Alzheimerâs disease. This position will primarily focus on the Resilience Initiative within the center which seeks to characterize factors that drive neuroprotection in asymptomatic individuals. The Neuroscience Imaging Analyst position provides an excellent opportunity to gain clinical and translational research experience in Alzheimerâs disease, neuroimaging, and computational genetics while working as part of an interdisciplinary team of experts and trainees in neuropsychology, neurology, neuroscience, biomedical engineering, neuroradiology, geriatrics, cardiology, and biostatistics.
Neuroimaging data post-processing activities
Complete advanced MRI analysis of multimodal neuroimaging data (e.g., T1, fluid attenuated inversion recovery, diffusion tensor imaging, arterial spin labeling, susceptibility weighted imaging data) in older adults with and without cognitive impairment
Generate statistical comparisons between clinical data and MRI outcomes in collaboration with research partners, the investigative team, biostatistical colleagues, and trainees
Genomic data post-processing activities
Perform quality control procedures on single nucleotide polymorphism and sequencing data using established procedures.
Assist in the preparation of materials for publication
Assist with manuscript, scientific abstract, and professional presentation development (with the opportunity to participate as a co-author for publications) according to accepted practices
Keep abreast of trends in field of study
Read professional journals and attend meetings and/or seminars
Perform administrative activities
Perform database management as needed
Skill Requirements: Programming skills in MATLAB, Python, Unix/Linux and scientific. Experience with PLINK, InterSNP, and R is desired but not required. Excellent professionalism and communication skills required.
