Employment Status: Full-time, "non-exempt", up to one year of temporary appointment.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Position Summary: Administrative Support Assistants are primarily responsible for providing varying levels of general office, clerical, and secretarial support. The full range of work activities includes processing mail, maintaining files and records, providing budget support, processing of documents and records, gathering data, preparing standard reports, and interacting with and solving problems for work unit customers. Incumbents in this classification tend to support a function or department but may support a particular person(s).
The incumbent will serve as Administrative Support Assistant for the Liberal Studies Program. The primary work activities include office support, information gathering and analysis, and communication and interaction with others. Under direct supervision of the Liberal Studies Program Coordinator, the incumbent's responsibilities include:
Enhance Liberal Studies student success and timely graduation.
Maintain and gather data such as Liberal Studies student's graduation rate.
Help schedule and coordinate student advising appointments along with the Office Manager for the Liberal Studies Program Coordinator to support the graduation initiative and quarter-to-semester conversion.
Maintain a smooth running office with minimal supervision in order to meet university and college deadlines and demands.
Prepare and compose correspondence, reports and other documents by using and maintaining office support technology such as word processing, desktop publishing, spreadsheets, and databases.
Create and maintain standard files and electronic records for record keeping.
Answer phone calls and walk-in inquiries with professionalism and respect.
Provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, and other departments and colleges on campus, drawing on broad knowledge and interpretation of departmental and university policies, procedures and practices.
Order and maintain office supplies.
Other duties may be assigned as appropriate to the operation of the Liberal Studies program.
Applicants must possess the equivalent to one year of experience in general office clerical work, along with a general knowledge of office methods, procedures and practices, and a working knowledge of correct English, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
Possess fundamental oral and writing skills to effectively communicate standard information.
The ability to use standard office equipment, along with the ability to use standard word processing and related computer software packages.
Possess the ability to perform basic arithmetic functions, along with the ability to respond to basic routine inquiries and explain standard policies and procedures to others.
Ability to identify and solve standard problems and refer more complex problems to appropriate staff.
The ability to work cooperatively with a diverse campus community.
