The Program Coordinator for Biomedical Engineering is a 10-month faculty administrator position with responsibility for leading, managing, and coordinating the Bachelor of Science degree program in Biomedical Engineering according to Stevenson University and the Fine School of the Sciences policies and procedures. Under the direction of the Dean, Fine School of the Sciences, the Program Coordinator administers the program policies and procedures and shares responsibility for the program's accreditation by ABET by fostering a culture of assessment; continuous quality improvement; and adherence to the ABET Standards for data collection, analysis, and reporting. The Program Coordinator for Biomedical Engineering also fulfills all responsibilities of a full-time faculty member as defined in the Stevenson University Policy Manual and in the Full-Time Faculty Job Description approved by the faculty of the Fine School of the Sciences. The teaching load requirement is three-fourths of the full-time faculty teaching load (18 contact hours per calendar year).
Doctorate in biomedical engineering or a related engineering field required plus a minimum of 5 years college level teaching and experience as an academic administrator preferred.
Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and enhancement of student academic achievement, including knowledge of and experience with assessment.
Knowledge of ABET accreditation standards and the proven ability to ensure program compliance with standards, collect and maintain the data needed to document compliance, and write reports related to accreditation.

ADMINISTRATIVEACTIVITY Essential administrative functions include: Serve as the first point of contact for students, faculty, staff and others regarding questions, complaints, and issues pertaining to the biomedical engineering program.
Investigate reports of academic misconduct involving biomedical engineering courses and/or students according to university policies and procedures.
Participate in the grade appeal process as necessary according to university policies and procedures.
Working with relevant campus offices and program faculty, assess program quality and effectiveness on an ongoing basis based on ABET and University guidelines.
Make recommendations regarding curriculum revision or development to the School and University administration, as appropriate.
Facilitate the development, implementation, and revision of program curriculum in collaboration with program faculty and staff and other relevant campus offices as needed.
Develop strategic initiatives and manage the program operating budget in consultation with the Dean of the School of the Sciences, as appropriate.
Schedule classes offered by the program in consultation with the SOS department chairs, the Dean, the Registrar's Office and other relevant offices.
Hire, mentor, monitor and evaluate the performance of personnel in the program according to established University guidelines and timetables.
Participate in recruitment initiatives, including, but not limited to, participating in Stevenson University open houses and accepted students' days.
Attend and participate in all School of the Sciences faculty/staff meetings.
Serve on the School of the Sciences Leadership Team.
Engage in and support grant-writing and other scholarly pursuits in support of academic programs.
Actively engage in collaborative pursuits and in forging relationships and partnerships with external and internal constituencies.
Collaborate with other schools and offices on campus to ensure alignment, shared purpose, and achievement of overall University goals.
INSTRUCTIONALACTIVITY Engage in instructional activity totaling three-fourths of the full-time faculty load, currently nine (9) contact hours per semester or eighteen (18) contact hours per academic year.
Teaching responsibilities include time spent in classes and in immediate preparation for them; maintaining and improving competence in subjects being taught; preparing teaching materials; conferring with students on course materials; directing individual and group studies; reviewing written or online projects and papers; evaluating presentations; and supervising independent study projects. Note that all SU courses use the BlackBoard Course Management System.
Evaluate, update, and revise courses regularly.
Participate in the assessment activities of the program, School, and University.
