Employment Status: Full-time, regular "exempt" position, included in the Management Personnel Plan (MPP).
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, occasional evening and weekend hours.

Location: This position will mainly work from the Palm Desert Campus with travel to the San Bernardino Campus as required.

Reporting to the Dean of JHBC, the Hospitality Management Program Director will lead in the oversight and implementation of the Jack H. Brown College of Business and Public Administration (JHBC), Palm Desert Campus (PDC) Hospitality and Management Program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Work closely with industry executives in the Coachella Valley, build collaborative partnerships with the local hospitality community, university stakeholders and the Dean of JHBC to implement a world class concentration within the JHBC Administration degree program at our PDC campus.
Continue to implement other complimentary programs as well and may work with students as needed e.g., with internships. May be required to attend regular meetings with hospitality associations and companies.
Provide leadership spearheading fundraising efforts with the support of the Jack Brown Hall College of Business Administration (JHBC) and the Palm Desert Campus (PDC) and University Advancement, to support the implementation this complex and imperative program.
Provide expertise and leadership of a strategic nature for the JHBC hospitality program.
Provide leadership in the development and evaluation of the program to ensure its strategic goals meets intended outcome. Incumbents work will be reviewed against overall goals and objectives, with full accountability for results.
Identify program opportunities within the Desert community local resources, and other stakeholders to expand and develop viable and sustainable Hospitality program at PDC
In consultation with the Dean of JHBC, provide budgetary oversight of the Hospitality and Management Program. (i.e. Allocating Annual Budget, Reconcile Accounts and Provide Reports)
Maintain communication with the Marking Department Chair and the Budget Analyst in Dean's office by providing regular updates on projected expenses/income and any information as requested.
Work with the Marketing Department Chair in identifying potential problems and/or concerns in office operations and budgetary matters. Will communicate and coordinate exchange of information to staff, providing ad hoc reports as necessary on matters such as the status of the budget, University and College policies, and personnel related issues.
Required to collect and analyze data and make accurate projections using business mathematics and basic statistical techniques as necessary.
Provide supervision of designated JHBC and PDC staff and work closely with the JHBC Dean and faculty in the scheduling of courses.
Responsible for organizing and advancing campus events aimed at supporting the mission of the JHBC Hospitality Program.
Develop solutions to issues frequently not covered by existing policies and procedures.
Provide leadership in recruitment of relevant support staff as required to advance the program and meet with faculty being recruited for the program and provide input to the Dean and Department Chairs.
Responsibilities may include duties at the San Bernardino campus, weekends, and evenings.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Master's degree or equivalent in hospitality management or closed related field at time of appointment. Five to seven years of professional experience working and/or teaching in the hospitality management or related field. (Doctorate preferred)
