Employment Status: Permanent / Probationary & Temporary "non-exempt" positions (with the possibility of the full-time positions converting to probationary)
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Under the supervision of the Dean of Pfau Library and lead work direction of the Library Services Specialist IV in charge of Acquisitions/Receiving, the incumbent will provide the following:
Will receive and check-in library materials, approve invoices for payment, process claims, and process gifts of library materials, perform pre-order bibliographic checking, and verify bibliographic records for monographic library materials.
Assist with migration of acquisitions processes to the Ex Libris ALMA Library System.
Receive and distribute campus mail to appropriate areas and retrieve outgoing mail, receive supplies, and maintain inventory of supplies, and assist in moving/ relocation of library materials.
Assist with the training and provide lead work direction of students assistance.
Position will compile related year-end reports and/or statistics.
Act as backup for Head Acquisitions/Receiving Unit and will perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
Completion of a High School Education or equivalent certification. A bachelors degree preferred.
Three (3) years of Library Assistant I experience (preferably at the university level), two (2) years Library Assistant I experience along with two (2) years/60 units of college coursework, or one (1) year Library Assistant I experience along with four (4) years/120 units of college course work.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Some knowledge of an Integrated Library System such as Ex Libris ALMA, and knowledge of automated acquisitions modules is preferred.
Experience dealing with library book vendors is desirable along with knowledge of the Library of Congress classification scheme and the MARC bibliographic records.
Must have a thorough knowledge of office methods, procedures and practices, and a thorough knowledge of correct English grammar, spelling and punctuation.
Must also have a working knowledge of common computer applications such as MS Excel, MS Word, user-created databases; and the ability to use a broader range of technology, systems, and software packages is preferred.
Ability to work accurately with attention to detail and to apply rules in accordance with established policies, regulations, and procedures is required.
A detailed knowledge of university infrastructure as well as a working knowledge of budget policies and procedures is useful.
Ability to independently handle multiple work unit priorities and projects is required.
Ability to apply independently a wide variety of policies and procedures where specific guidelines may not exist is required.
Ability to supervise, exercise creativity and initiative, communicate effectively, and work productively alone and with colleagues.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift, lower, push, and pull loads ranging in weight from 5-25 lbs.; must be able to carry loads ranging from 5-25 lbs. for distances up to 20 feet; must be capable of kneeling, reaching overhead, climbing stairs and ladders, walking, twisting, stooping, and bending; depending upon the project, employee may spend 20-50% of day sitting, 20-50% of day standing, 20-50% of day walking.
