Gannon University’s School of Engineering and Computer Science seeks an energetic Assistant Professor of Industrial Engineering. The appointment for this nine-month tenure track position begins in August 2019. The successful candidate expertise should focus on Operations Research and Healthcare Systems Engineering. The candidate should be able to demonstrate experience in the application of these knowledge bases to robotics, digital manufacturing and/or machine learning applications. The successful applicant will provide a dynamic and innovative classroom and lab experience for students. In addition, the candidate should have the ability to design new courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels that provide linkages between operations research, robotics, simulation, and healthcare systems engineering. Also, will engage in collaborative, interdisciplinary research, both within and outside of the Department of Biomedical, Industrial and Systems Engineering (BISE), and contribute to the goals and missions of the Industrial Engineering (IE) program and the College of Engineering and Business and Gannon University.
BISE faculty work and teach in the new Center for Advanced Engineering (CAE). The newly accredited IE program is developing a strong healthcare orientation. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated faculty member to influence the program, and develop creative approaches for student engagement in the classroom, community, and research. The College of Engineering and Business (CEB) promotes a strong entrepreneurial mindset. There is the opportunity to interact with regional entrepreneurs through the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and Erie Technology Incubator (ETI). Faculty can develop their own projects and make use of services from SBDC and ETI.
Qualified candidates will be expected to engage in scholarly activities in keeping with the Boyer Model of Scholarship as is appropriate to the application and receipt of tenure and promotion at Gannon. Requirements include a Ph.D. or comparable degree (completed by August 1, 2019) in Industrial Engineering or a closely related field. Excellent communication skills are required. Experience working as an industrial engineer, professional registration, six sigma black belt, lean systems, and teaching experience in higher education is preferred.
