The College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University, located in Ames, Iowa, invites applications for a full-time, clinical-track or tenure-track faculty position in small animal surgery, both soft tissue and orthopedics, or with an emphasis in orthopedic/neurosurgery housed within the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences. The qualifications, documented experience, and interests of the selected candidate will determine appointment rank.
The primary responsibilities of this position will be to collaborate with the current accomplished team of veterinary surgeons and allied specialists, to enhance an established small animal surgery section. The recently renovated Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center (LVMC) is fully equipped including a stereotactic radiation therapy unit, slated for operational use in the Winter of 2018. For interested candidates, there are potential opportunities for partnerships providing clinical service at Iowa Veterinary Specialties (IVS), a university affiliate private specialty and emergency practice in the capital city of Des Moines, Iowa.
The selected candidate will be committed to the delivery of exceptional patient care, share an enthusiastic dedication to education and will contribute to the enhancement of the national prominence of the surgery and other sections practicing in the LVMC.

Required Education and Experience:
- DVM or equivalent degree. - Successful completion of an American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS) or European College of Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS) residency program.
In addition, positions at the following ranks will require: ASSOCIATE OR FULLPROFESSOR: An established record of experience and scholarship through manuscript preparation and publication comparable to that expected for commensurate rank at ISU; professional practice and clinical teaching as a board certified surgeon; national or international scholarly, clinical, or education presentations; and a successful record of external granting activity are required.
CLINICALASSOCIATE OR CLINICALPROFESSOR: Candidates must meet the requirements commensurate for each rank at the ISU College of Veterinary Medicine.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- A record of or notable potential for scholarship obtained through manuscript publication/preparation, or national scholarly, clinical, or educational presentations, or evidence of having applied for, received, or completed grants/funding.
State of Iowa Veterinary License on or before first day of employment.
Board certification by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS) or the European College of Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS).
Tenure or Clinical Track [term] faculty.
