The Department of Neurosciences at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) (http://neurosciences.ucsd.edu/) and the Department of Anesthesiology (http://anes-som.ucsd.edu/) are committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff and student body and is seeking a neurointensivist to join our growing Division of Neurocritical Care, which is a collaborative effort between the Departments of Neurosciences, Anesthesiology, and Neurosurgery.
UCSD's Neurocritical Care Division runs a UCNS-accredited fellowship program that currently trains 1-2 neurocritical care fellows each year. The successful candidate will participate in the teaching and training of trainees on the NCC service, including neurosurgery, anesthesia, and neurology residents, neurocritical care fellows, anesthesia and pulmonary critical care fellows, and stroke fellows. It involves attending on a busy and rapidly expanding academic neurocritical care service in UCSD's Neuro-ICU, which provides primary management for all ICU-level neurology and neurosurgery patients, as well as consults for MICU and trauma patients.
University of California San Diego departments are committed to teaching and research, in addition to providing outstanding and cutting-edge patient care. The successful candidate will also conduct significant clinical and/or basic research in the field of neurocritical care, and provide leadership in expanding the Neurocritical Care Division's research program. An interest in dedicated time performing clinical or basic/translational research related to neurocritical care is a must.
Candidates must have an MD and completed a Neurocritical care fellowship in an accredited institution and be board certified or board eligible in Neurocritical Care, and be eligible for a State of California medical license. Candidates must also have clinical skills, training in primary neurocritical care management.
Candidates will be joint-appointed in the Departments of Neurosurgery and Anesthesiology.
The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.
