7 West is a 26 bed Medical/Surgical Progressive Care Unit. The focus of care is adult patients with a variety of medical and surgical disease diagnosis.

Participates in the nursing process to administer nursing care under the direction of the RN. Communicates frequently with team members, ancillary departments and physicians. Works closely with patients and families. May be exposed to infectious diseases, bio-hazardous materials, including regulated medical wastes and combative patients. Requires walking, pushing, pulling, standing, stooping, bending and lifting, in performance of duties. Must demonstrate proper body mechanics and be able to safely lift, push/move, support and transfer patients. Frequent use of mechanical devices. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development, possesses the ability to collect data reflective of the patient’s status, interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his or her age and specific needs, and provides the care needed as described in departmental policies and procedures.
Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing school either for practical nursing or registered nurses.
Experience: Healthcare experience preferred.
Licensure/Certification: Licensed to practice nursing LPN in the state of Virginia. Must obtain/maintain AHS BLS-HCP required. May be required to obtain/maintain AHA BLS based on specific work unit.
Other: Employee should enroll into an accredited Registered Nurse program within 15 months of hire.
